‘The Expo 2020 in Dubai shall stand out in sustainability’
Together with Culligan, her partner in the United Arab Emirates, Holland Water from Driebergen, the Netherlands has once again succeeded in obtaining big orders in Dubai. Combined, it concerns over twenty systems that will be supplied in the coming months in Dubai.
Peter van der Linde, Director at Holland Water, is extremely grateful for these special orders. “The international competition has been gruelling, but our partner Culligan’s strong position in this region, the intensive collaborations between our companies, and the proven quality of the Bifipro® system have all contributed to the fact that we can now be considered the ‘prefered supplier’”, says van der Linde. “The ‘best available technology’ of copper- silver ionisation thus has a prominent role in providing safe water for these projects”.
This year’s Holland Pavilion will once again have a huge presence at the WETEX in Dubai and it is bigger than ever. An important reason for this is that it is also used as a platform for the Dutch Expo 2020 campaign. Not only that, but for the first time ever the Holland Water Bar, also physically equipped with a Bifipro® system, will have a central position in the connecting role that the Netherlands intends to play in the sectors water, energy, and food.
“The Netherlands is focusing on the main theme ‘Sustainability’ and specifically the Nexus Water – Energy – Food”, says Frank Mollen, Dutch Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates. “We are world leaders in the ‘holistic’ approach to water, energy, and food matters. In that combination, The Netherlands has a unique expertise and we are going to showcase that in the Dutch Pavilion at the Expo in 2020. That a company such as Holland Water, winner of the Orange Trade Mission Fund in 2016, is already so actively involved in the Expo 2020 and achieving such success, indicates that many opportunities for Dutch companies lay ahead”, says the Ambassador.
Stefanie Schachtschabel, Chairman at the Netherlands Business Council (NBC) adds: “It is our core activity to support Dutch companies who are members of the NBC in any way possible and thereby ensuring that their activities in the UAE region flourish. Holland Water is a prime example of that and it is fantastic that they have already been achieving so much success leading up to the Expo 2020.”
Also Simon Boyd, Managing Director at Culligan Middle East, is very happy with the collaborations with Holland Water. “Together, we have thought long and hard about the market approach and we have dared to make choices”, he says. “The combined strength of two market leaders is a strong foundation for future success.”
The new orders are once again significant achievements for Holland Water that is becoming more and more prominent outside of the Netherlands and is very successful with her Bifipro® system, especially in the Gulf region. The past years have been used to invest in this and the main focus has been on the importance of quality. Peter van der Linde: “When we started in this region, around two-and-a-half years ago, there was little structure in the market and people were mostly looking for cheap systems to drive out the competition”, he claims. “We have constantly emphasised that the cheapest is always the dearest in the end. This is because: when a system is installed that may be cheap, but does not work sufficiently, problems arise. And in the case of Legionella, they can be disastrous” says van der Linde.
“In addition, it seems that many parties in the market lack the in-house knowledge to fully comprehend the, often complex, drinking water installations. Luckily, Holland Water and Culligan do have that knowledge. We can even monitor and adjust all our systems from a distance, which means also in the Gulf region. With this, we ensure that the building owner needn’t worry about the system.” This feeling of safety is also important in the tourist sector, the economical motor of the UAE. Van der Linde: “We truly supply an added value, just like we do in the Netherlands. Clean water, less energy and water consumption, and the risks of Legionella contaminations are eliminated by us.”
Today (Tuesday 23rd October), the signatures for the contracts have been signed in Dubai at the WETEX in the Dutch Pavilion (see picture). This, in the presence of (FLTR) Ambassador Frank Mollen, Consul General and Commissioner General Dutch Pavilion Expo 2020 Hans Sandee, Stefanie Schachtschabel of the Netherlands Business Council, Culligan’s Simon Boyd, and Peter van der Linde, Director at Holland Water.
